Elisabetta T. Coschignano is a Member of the Firm. She has been a practicing attorney for over two decades concentrating her practice in the areas of commercial and residential real estate transactions, zoning and land use planning, municipal law, litigation and estate planning. Ms. Coschignano was associated with several prominent Long Island firms prior to starting her own practice in 2004. Throughout her years in private practice, Ms. Coschignano has handled all types of commercial and residential land use applications before all local municipal entities. She has received approvals for projects ranging from single-family dwellings to multi-family dwellings; mixed-use projects; assisted living communities; fast food restaurants; commercial and retail establishments and in many cases obtaining Industrial Development Agency relief in the form of Payments in Lieu of Taxes; and sales and mortgage tax exemption. Ms. Coschignano also represents various municipal boards; has handled complex commercial and personal injury litigation, matrimonial litigation, residential and commercial real estate transactions; trademark applications and registrations with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Ms. Coschignano’s fluency in the Italian language has also assisted in her collaboration with international law firms in order to service clients with foreign assets.

From 2010 to 2016, Ms. Coschignano served as Counsel to the Town of Oyster Bay Zoning Appeals and she currently serves as Chairperson of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Village of Muttontown and Counsel to the Village of Island Park Board of Zoning Appeals.

Ms. Coschignano also served as Principal Law Clerk to the Honorable Anthony L. Parga, New York State Supreme Court Justice for the County of Nassau; and the Honorable Stephen A. Bucaria, New York State Supreme Court Justice for the County of Nassau, Commercial and Tax Division. Her role as Principal Law Clerk in Nassau County Supreme Court provided her with the unique opportunity to complement her career experience by gaining perspective from the judicial branch of government. Throughout her tenure as Principal Law Clerk, Ms. Coschignano participated in the drafting of hundreds of decisions, many of which were affirmed by the Appellate Division for the Second Department.

Ms. Coschignano is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, Chair of the Nassau County Bar Association’s Municipal Law and Land Use Committee; the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association, the Nassau County Catholic Lawyers’ Guild and an officer and member of the Board of Directors for the Columbian Lawyers’ Association.

Ms. Coschignano has been awarded the Long Island Herald “Top Lawyers” Award 2021; Long Island Business News Award “Top 50 Women in Business”; and Long Island Business News “Leadership In Law” Award for 2022.

Over the years, Ms. Coschignano has also volunteered her time to the Boys and Girls Club of Oyster Bay East Norwich, the Pride in Athletics for Life Ice Hockey organization and St. Edward the Confessor Church and School. Ms. Coschignano was also a member of the St. Edward the Confessor School Board and served as a past School Board President. Ms. Coschignano also chaired the 50th Anniversary Gala for St. Edward’s School and was honored at St. Edward School’s 15th Annual Golf and Tennis Classic for her commitment and involvement to the school and Catholic education.

Ms. Coschignano is admitted to practice law in the State of New York. She received her undergraduate degree from Hofstra University (B.B.A.) and her law degree from Hofstra University School of Law (J.D.)
